Social Networking and Virtual Worlds

What are some ways (corporate and otherwise) that these technologies can be used?
Now a day, social networking and virtual worlds is very useful in our daily life. It is the best way to keep in touch with each other around the world by using internet through the Web 2.0. It is fast and easy for everybody. We can keep our identity private by stay anonymous. We also can make up of a new identity by not telling other our identity at all. We can use this technology to explore through online website such as: wikis, myspace, facebook, and etc. For the corporate level, they also use the internet to find the person that fit in the position that they are looking for. According to the article “Social Networking Technology Boosts Job Recruiting”, the Crawford-Hentz says, “And I hit upon his profile, and I sent him this e-mail saying: 'Hi, Alfred, I found your profile on line. And we have a position that I think may be of interest to you.’”

What are the benefits of these technologies to society? Be specific
This social networking brings and connects people together around the world. As in the article “iReport: 'Naughty Auties' battle autism with virtual interaction” it says, “So you're not going out into the real world meeting people, you're going meeting people online and in your own home, so you're perfectly relaxed. It's just a fantastic tool to use to bring people together.”

Is there a "dark side"?
Of course there is a dark side of social networking. Sometimes, I even go to the chat room and fake my identity. We don’t know if the people that we talk to also hide their identity too or not. If me met the wrong person over the social networking website that might make people go through the wrong way such as drug, porn and other bad situation.

Make sure to include your opinion of the way these technologies might evolve in the future.
Well, I believe that in the future social networking and virtual worlds will evolve more in our life. Everybody will sit in front of their own computer at home to work instead of working in their office. Like our class, we are staying at home and do homework or what we have to do then summit them online. However, I hope there will be less of the dark side of the social networking and virtual worlds.
